Jacqueline Fernandez, a Sri Lankan actor hailing from Bahrain's Manama was born into the multicultural home of a family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is a Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim, a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the youngest of two sisters and an older brother. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents relocated to Bahrain in the 80s as a result of the turmoil within Sri Lanka. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after graduating from Bahrain. An avid lover of different cultures as well as languages, she enrolled in Berlitz Language School where she studied Spanish and honed her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006, Padukone began working on television. She hosted the television show Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone, the daughter of badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and grew up in Bangalore. She played badminton at the national championships while young teenagers, however she decided to give her sports career up in order to be a model. Padukone has Mangalorean roots and is fluent in Konkani as her native language. Padukone Village is situated within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka in India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international badminton player who has retired. Her mom is a traveling agent.
